The homeowners wanted their kitchen to be the home’s centrepiece, not just functional, but a space considered from every angle, including the archway leading in. They’d seen enough standard kitchen fit-outs to know what they didn’t want: a benchtop that stopped being interesting the moment you looked past the island.
Why they chose Stonaa
They came to Stonaa wanting one material carried through the whole space- island, splashback, rangehood, and the archway opening into the kitchen- rather than a mix of surfaces that would each need their own installer and their own margin for error where they meet. That meant finding a stone with enough character to anchor the room on its own, and a fabricator who could take it beyond the benchtop into a genuine architectural feature.
How Stonaa helped
We sourced Lumira Gold through Zenith Surface Stone Ambassador and built the kitchen around it as a single continuous material. The island benchtop runs a mitred waterfall edge on both ends, the same slab continues up the splashback and wraps the rangehood canopy, and the veining was book-matched where panels meet so it reads as one continuous surface rather than several joined ones.
The standout piece was the archway: we clad the rounded opening into the kitchen in Lumira Gold. We worked with the electrician to run a concealed LED strip along the curve, turning a doorway into one of the most photographed details in the home.
The finished kitchen is exactly what the brief asked for: a single material doing the work of several, with no visible break in the stone from the splashback to the island to the archway. It’s the kind of result that comes from fabricating every piece from the same slab run and planning the joins before a single cut is made.
