5 Signs It’s Time To Renovate Your Bathroom & How to Fix It

If you’re considering a renovation of your bathroom, but aren’t sure if it’s the right time there’s some surefire ways to tell if it’s the perfect time to renovate your bathroom. Stonaa can help you revamp your bathroom and are an expert with stone benchtops in Melbourne. Here’s 5 signs you should begin a renovation.

      There’s Damage And Leaks
Water leaking and pooling on surfaces or into walls is not only aesthetically unpleasing, but can be very dangerous and cause a safety hazard. The walls and foundation of your house can also be damaged if water soaks through cracks into drywall and plaster or through tiles into the floor itself leading to possibly flooding and clogged pipes. Damaged and cracked tiles or broken marble benchtops, Melbourne, are unappealing and can lead to further damage.

      Fix: Choose a durable stone
Avoid scratches, chips, and leaks by using a durable stone like granite for your countertops and in your shower. Granite is easy to maintain as it won’t react to ammonia, acid, or alcohol. Once sealed, it’s one of the least porous materials you can find. This will help prevent water from leaking through. Granite will help ensure your bathroom stays damage free. For the plumbing itself it’s always best to have a plumber come over and check the status of your plumbing to make sure there are no surprises.

      There’s Mould
If mould keeps reappearing after you’ve cleaned it, this could be a sign of a bigger problem behind your walls or ceiling. Mould may first appear as dark edges along your bath or shower or as dark spots on your walls and ceiling. Once it takes hold, it can spread quickly. Mould is a serious issue that can affect your health, and it also looks dirty. If it just won’t stay away, this could be a sign to dig out your tiles and begin anew.

Fix: Choose stone for an easy clean
The easiest way to prevent mould from appearing in your bathroom is by cleaning regularly. So you’ll want a material in your bathroom that is easy to clean. This is where stone comes in. Many varieties of stone are incredibly easy to clean. Once installed, make sure to wipe down the stone after every shower and clean with a stone friendly cleaner regularly.

      It’s Not Functional
A poorly designed bathroom can be extremely frustrating. If you’re constantly having to maneuver around your toilet to get to the bath or you feel cramped, it’s time for a redesign.

Fix: Redesign the layout and combine features
Even if you don’t have a lot of space to work with, the solution could be something as simple as combining the bath and shower, or taking the bath out completely. Create a clean and uniform environment by using natural stones in the same colour palette. Include a backsplash in that same stone, or even opt for a mirror splashback that can double as your bathroom’s mirror.

      It’s Outdated
If your bathroom looks like it’s stuck in last century and you groan anytime you think about it, it’s time for an upgrade. Maybe your home was built a long time ago, or the bathroom was built with the previous owner’s taste in mind.

Fix: Update with current trends and materials
Bring your bathroom into the 21st century with new models of toilets and showers, or new tiles. Natural materials are incredibly popular for the bathroom now, and Marble is at the forefront. Using natural stone everywhere is a huge trend set for 2022. Many people are choosing to use it on the floor, or their walls, and for their counters. Shades like our Super White and Tundra Grey are popular colours to fit with today’s trends.

      You’ve Outgrown The Space
If your family has grown, the bathroom that once was perfect for you may not work now. You may have run out of storage space or many more people now use the room. It’s likely time to renovate and bring your bathroom into this new phase of your life.

Fix: Change the layout and add storage
Add in some more cabinets, bins, or shelves to give you more storage. Or if you can, maybe a new layout or an expansion is the way to go. Or maybe you need to adjust the set up for children or an elderly parent who finds it difficult to step into the tub. Stonna can help you remodel your space to fit your family’s needs.
